DURHAM, NC – [Tuesday, May 23, 2019] – Teamworks, the leading athlete engagement platform for collegiate and professional organizations, is pleased to announce a partnership with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga athletic department. Chattanooga will use Teamworks to simplify communication and improve scheduling, with increased transparency on student-athletes’ time demands. In addition to Teamworks’ core offerings, UTC will leverage Teamworks Academics to improve the academic success of all student-athletes.
“Teamworks has earned its reputation as the must-have software to engage student-athletes,” said Mark Wharton, UTC Vice Chancellor & Director of Athletics. “Beyond operating more efficiently, we will be able to better serve our student-athletes with a single platform to connect the entire department. Our student-athletes were a part of the process as we decided to partner with Teamworks, and they are just as excited as our staff and coaches about improving collaboration.”
With Teamworks Academics, Chattanooga will help student-athletes gain better insight and control over their academic workload, simplify the tutor management process and monitor attendance more efficiently and effectively. With repetitive work streamlined, UTC will be able to improve academic performance by addressing the unique needs of each student-athlete through individualized objective-based learning plans. Teamworks Academics is a new solution, launching in Summer 2019.
“Our Student-Athlete Academic Enhancement Center was one of the main drivers for our partnership with Teamworks,” said Dr. Emily Blackman, UTC Senior Associate AD, Academic Enhancement. “With Teamworks Academics, we will be able to more deeply engage our student-athletes by simplifying communications processes. Our student-athlete GPA hit another record high this semester and we look forward to enhancing our success with Teamworks.”
UTC is the first Southern Conference institution to partner with Teamworks throughout the department. The Mocs are among more than 80 NCAA Division I collegiate programs connecting every student-athlete, coach and staff member on Teamworks.
“We’re excited to partner with Chattanooga to connect the entire athletic department,” said Zach Maurides, CEO and Founder of Teamworks. “UTC understands the importance of educational excellence and we look forward to providing Teamworks Academics to enhance the success of every student-athlete.”
