DURHAM, NC – [Thursday, August 15, 2019]– Teamworks, the leading athlete engagement platform for collegiate and professional organizations, is pleased to announce a partnership with the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) athletic department. UAB will use the platform to streamline department operations to increase engagement with student-athletes. In addition to Teamworks’ core offerings, UAB will leverage Teamworks Academics to encourage academic success of all student-athletes.
“Teamworks has been the leading communications tool in the industry for several years now,” said Dan Carlson, Senior Associate AD for Administration. “We make every decision with the student-athlete in mind and the Teamworks platform will give them the ability to receive communication from every area within our athletic department. We want to empower them to be responsible and accountable through Teamworks while learning how to take ownership and gain the tools to be successful in life long after college. It simply made sense to adopt it department-wide so all of our sports and staff could take advantage of this platform and effectively communicate seamlessly.”
With Teamworks Academics, the Blazers will simplify the logistics around academic support to improve outcomes. With repetitive work streamlined, UAB will be able to address the unique academic needs of each student-athlete through individualized, objective-based learning plans.
“Teamworks Academics will enhance our student-athletes’ academic experience,” said Ramone Cooper, Associate AD for Student-Athlete Support Services. “Our unit was looking into ways in which we could promote student autonomy without sacrificing accountability. The flexibility of the academic success plans will allow us to create and manage support plans for our students who need it most, all while empowering them to eventually create their own plans when they’re academically prepared to do so.
“Having a tool that integrates with our institution’s learning management system, as well as having the capability to manage our tutorial program all within the same platform, will increase the efficiency for both students and staff.”
The Blazers join more than 2,000 NCAA Division I teams in partnership with Teamworks. UAB will leverage the platform to increase efficiencies and maximize resources that lead to success in the classroom and on the field of competition.
“In today’s world, the cost of doing business is increasing every day. To try to meet those costs head on, we want to find ways to be more efficient with our time and money,” said Carlson. “Teamworks will allow our coaches and staff the ability to reduce the amount of time being spent organizing and communicating, and when you multiply those extra three to four hours a week per person of saved time across an entire department it starts adding up in a big way.”
“We’re thrilled to welcome UAB to the Teamworks family,” said Zach Maurides, CEO and Founder of Teamworks. “We look forward to giving UAB the tools to centralize their department operations and help their student-athletes achieve their goals both in the classroom and on the field.”
