Academy prepares athletes to begin their post-playing careers as champions
DURHAM, NC – [Tuesday, August 21, 2018] – Teamworks, the leading athlete engagement platform for collegiate and professional organizations, is pleased to announce Teamworks Academy, a program designed to help former athletes transition from success on the field to entrepreneurial and business success.
The six- to twelve-month paid postgraduate program features a curriculum that combines foundational personal and professional development skills with hands-on work across the company. Academy members receive training in customer service; written and verbal communication; presentations; analytical and critical thinking; active listening; problem solving and business acumen. At the end of the program, participants have the skills and experience to join the Teamworks Customer Success or Collegiate Sales teams.
“Athletics uniquely prepares participants for success, as it drills in the characteristics that matter most – leadership, accountability, achievement and more,” said Zach Maurides, CEO of Teamworks. “Teamworks Academy is designed to take athletes to the next level by smoothing their transition from sports to the office. Through focused training, athletes will be ready to realize their full potential at Teamworks and in life.”
Aligning with Teamworks’ mission of engaging and empowering athletes, Teamworks Academy is currently focused on creating opportunities for former collegiate student-athletes. Future cohorts will also include former professional athletes
“Teamworks was built by athletes, for athletes,” said Maurides. “Beyond paving the way for career success for athletes, the Academy ensures the voice of the athlete continues to be a part of everything we do.”
