Stephen F. Austin State Invests in Teamworks to Prioritize Academic and Athletic Success for Student-Athletes
The Lumberjacks make clear and consistent communication essential for their 16 varsity teams.
DURHAM, NC – [Wednesday, September 9, 2020] – Teamworks, the leading athlete engagement platform for collegiate and professional organizations, is pleased to announce a partnership with Stephen F. Austin State University. SFA will use Teamworks’ core offerings to streamline critical communications and establish operational consistency across department and team logistics. In addition, the Lumberjacks will leverage Teamworks Academics to prioritize academic success for their student-athletes.
“Teamworks has established a strong reputation in collegiate athletics as the leading athlete communication and engagement app,” said Ryan Ivey, Director of Athletics for SFA. “Teamworks centralizes pivotal information for our student-athletes, including training schedules, university updates and required paperwork. In reducing unnecessary logistical clutter, Teamworks helps them to focus on their performance in the classroom and on the field. When our campus went remote earlier this spring, Teamworks proved crucial in keeping our student-athletes, coaches and staff in sync and will only become more critical as we begin executing the fall semester.”
With Teamworks Academics, the Lumberjacks will simplify the logistics around academic support to prioritize academic outcomes across the department’s 16 sports. Academic advisors gain better insights into student-athlete calendars, minimizing no-shows and cancellations, while also accurately being able to monitor study hall attendance through mobile check-ins functionality.
“Teamworks Academics improves cross-functional alignment by integrating our academics staff and tutors into the broader operations of our athletic department,” said Kara Carpenter, Associate Athletics Director for Compliance at SFA. “Most importantly, by embedding our academic processes into our athlete engagement platform, student-athletes can go to one place – their Teamworks app – for both athletics and academics logistics. By doing this, we can ensure the academic progress of each student-athlete, which is essential to their success as SFA.”
SFA joins more than 2,000 NCAA Division I departments and teams that partner with Teamworks as well as more than 100 professional teams around the world that leverage the platform.
“We’re excited to welcome Stephen F. Austin into the Teamworks family and allow student-athletes to clearly visualize and manage athletic and academic activities side-by-side,” said Zach Maurides, CEO and Founder of Teamworks. “By leveraging Teamworks Academics in conjunction with our core product offerings, athletics staff have a central location to communicate with student-athletes and properly assess their time demands and constraints, ensuring success both on the field and in the classroom.”
