UNCW Leverages Teamworks

UNCW Leverages Teamworks to Standardize Communication Across Stakeholders

The Seahawks will instill the mobile communication mechanisms of Teamworks across the department’s 19 varsity sports.

DURHAM, NC – [Friday, June 25, 2021] – Teamworks, the leading athlete engagement platform for collegiate and professional organizations, is pleased to announce a partnership with UNCW. Amidst navigating the effects of COVID-19, leadership at UNCW recognized the need to innovate and centralize its methods of communication for all department stakeholders and will leverage Teamworks as the flexible messaging and scheduling solution for the department.

“There are many behind the scenes moving parts in supporting a competitive D1 athletics program here at UNCW,” said Mark Wagner, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations at UNCW.

“All these moving parts affect the student-athletes’ busy schedule of classes, practice, competition, workouts, and more. It is critical to our success to streamline and improve our communication with our student-athletes. Teamworks is the tool to do this.”

UNCW joins more than 2,000 NCAA Division I departments and teams that partner with Teamworks and will bring the app’s mobile communication components to more than 350 student-athletes across 19 varsity sports.

“Teamworks allows us to address our top concern during the pandemic, which is to keep student-athletes, coaches and staff connected and up-to-date on department operations and decision-making,” said Tiffany Tucker, SWA & Senior Associate AD at UNCW.

“Whether by team, class, or any other subgroup, Teamworks gives our staff the capabilities to easily relay information to student-athletes and instill greater accountability that they’ll arrive to their athletic and academic obligations on schedule.”

The Seahawks are among several departments from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) that leverage Teamworks department-wide. The list includes College of William & Mary, James Madison University and University of Delaware.

“The pandemic exposed how critical it is for athletic organizations to digitize operations in order to sustain consistent, effective communication across all stakeholders,” said Zach Maurides, CEO and Founder of Teamworks.

“We are proud to provide the Teamworks platform and its mobile capabilities to UNCW to streamline the athletic staff’s communication efforts in keeping athletes updated and in-the-know both within their specific team’s operations and at the department level.”
