Six Athletes Selected to Launch their Careers with Teamworks AcademyTeamworks empowers recently graduated athletes through Academy programDURHAM, NC – – Teamworks, the leading athlete engagement platform for collegiate and professional organizations, is pleased to announce the Winter 2020 Teamworks Academy class. The six recently graduated student-athletes, each representing different conferences and sports, will support Teamworks customers and gain foundational business skills through the program.“Athletes are equipped with some of the most valuable traits we look for in employees,” said Hilary Lerner, Vice President of People & Culture at Teamworks. “Teamworks Academy lets us harness their well-honed ability to lead, work hard and be coached to the benefit of our customers and company. As we’ve seen the number of applications for the Academy increase with each class, it’s clear that athletes are seeking meaningful ways to start their careers. We’re proud to provide this mutually advantageous opportunity.”Launched in Summer 2018, Teamworks Academy is designed to help former athletes transition from athletic careers to the business world. The program combines personal and professional development skills with hands-on work at the company. Academy members receive training in customer support and service; written and verbal communication; analytical and critical thinking; problem-solving and business acumen. Members of previous classes now work in Teamworks Customer Success and Product Development departments.“When an athlete’s playing career ends, it’s a significant pivot point,” said April Meeks, Director of Customer Support and leader of Teamworks Academy. “With Teamworks Academy, we’re able to live our mission of engaging and empowering athletes by coaching and guiding them through the transition.
