Jim Cavale’s Tip Of The Week: What To Post On Social Media

You’re a collegiate student-athlete. You’ve picked up followers on your social accounts during the recruiting process, and now you’ve gained even more followers as you enter the public eye via the platform that is college sports.

Your social networks now are not simply a collection of friends and classmates. They are followed by fans, media and more. This represents tremendous opportunity to build a personal brand that can serve you long after your playing days end, says Jim Cavale, CEO and founder of Influencer (INFLCR) and one of the leading experts on personal branding in the country.

Your collegiate program may offer you some coaching about what NOT to do on social media. But what kind of content should you post to grow your audience?

“So, a lot of athletes will say, ‘Jim, what’s the formula as far as what I’m going to share on my social media channels?’ And the answer I always give is, ‘what are you about?’’’ Cavale sais. “What roles do you play in your live as a volunteer, family member, teammate and of course athlete — living the dream, trying to achieve a dream and other things you are.

“Those are the things you should be sharing on your social media.”

It really comes down to a simple question: “Ask yourself,” Cavale says, “what are you about?”

Giving your audience an authentic look at your life is the key to success. And there are now tools that help make this much easier.
