Jim Cavale’s Tip Of The Week: Post Frequency

It is a question Jim Cavale is asked often by student-athletes whenever talking about social media: How often should I post?

Cavale, founder and CEO of Influencer (INFLCR) and one of the nation’s leading experts on personal branding, says there are no hard and fast rules. But he encourages student-athletes to post frequently and show their life beyond the game.

“The more you post, the more you’re going to grow your following and grow your engagement,” Cavale says. “Does that mean you have to post 5-6 times per day on Instagram? No. But should you post a media piece daily, telling the story of practicing, training, doing the diet you do, having the friends you have, having the teammates you have, and of course the game pictures and videos of playing? Yes. It’s going help you grow your brand.”

Cavale’s company, INFLCR, helps athletes grow their personal brands within the context of their teams. He often personally coaches top athletes for INFLCR’s clients.

“Recently, I challenged one of our clients’ athletes to post every day during a trip they had to the Bahamas. He grew his following by more than 1,000 in one week,” Cavale says. “Imagine if he did that every week throughout the year, he would grow his following by more than 50,000 followers. I challenge you to do the same thing. Post every day and tell your story beyond just the athlete that you are in the game, but also the athlete you are off the field or court, and of course the life that you are living as a student, friend, teammate, family member, etc.”
