From DePaul Athletics:
Blue Demons’ Legacy program provides value for student-athletes
DePaul Athletics and INFLCR have once again expanded their partnership to introduce the INFLCR+ Local Exchange—a new software service that will further assist DePaul Athletics in supporting student-athletes as they pursue Name, Image, & Likeness (NIL) business opportunities. This innovative partnership positions DePaul on the cutting-edge of NIL as one of INFLCR’s first nine athletic department launch partners nationwide.
With the INFLCR+ Local Exchange, DePaul Athletics will provide a forum for local and national businesses and collectives to communicate with student-athletes to construct and fulfill NIL agreements.
“The opportunity for DePaul to create an exchange that is fully automated, with our partners at INFLCR, is accomplishing a goal I set out on July 1 when modernized NIL regulations were signed into law,” said DeWayne Peevy, Vice President and Director of Athletics. “How do we provide an easy and convenient vehicle for business providers, sponsors, and community partners to connect with our student-athletes? That’s what this opportunity gives for us. Further, it gives our student-athletes the chance to market themselves, build their own brand and platform, and to be more attractive to businesses and different brands. The skills this will teach them, in a professional nature, will be vital for the growth of our LEGACY NIL program.”
Upon finalization of an NIL deal within the Local Exchange, student-athletes will be able to complete a compliance disclosure within the INFLCR app. The app will also include a payment processing tool for the business to securely and directly pay the student-athlete with no transaction fees. All disclosure and payment data automatically report to the institution’s existing INFLCR compliance portal, and any payments processed using this tool will be reported on a consolidated 1099 that lives in the student-athlete’s INFLCR app for more efficient tax reporting.
“Our customers—from administrators, to coaches, to student-athletes—are innovative and engaged, and played a key role in helping our product team design and build the INFLCR+ Local Exchange,” said INFLCR President Jim Cavale. “DePaul Athletics and our other launch partners are so far ahead of the curve; I’m just humbled by the trust that they’ve placed in us and in the Local Exchange.”
