Matildas Partner with Teamworks in Preparation of Major International Competitions
The Matildas rely on Teamworks to ease communication and travel logistics ahead of marquee events in 2021 and 2023.
DURHAM, NC – [Monday, August 16, 2021] – Teamworks, the leading athlete engagement platform for professional and collegiate organizations, is pleased to announce a partnership with the Matildas, the Australian women’s national football team. During the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics and the impending 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which will occur in Australia and New Zealand, the Matildas require a secure, reliable communication platform and leverage Teamworks for its flexible scheduling and easy coordination of travel-related information.
“I had the pleasure of using Teamworks during my time at US Soccer and witnessed first hand how effectively it strengthened engagement from the players and streamlined the processes behind getting the team together for training or competing,” said Matildas Head Coach Tony Gustavsson. “With a national team like the Matildas, we can be spread out all over the world at various times, and Teamworks provides us with the tools to communicate efficiently and effectively while also simplifying some of the cumbersome travel processes our staff must go through to get everyone in the right location at the right time.”
The Matildas are among over 150 professional teams around the world that partner with Teamworks. The list includes prominent women’s professional teams such as US Soccer, the womens’ first teams for Chelsea FC and Arsenal FC, the OL Reign and Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), the defending WNBA championship Seattle Storm, and more.
“We’ve had the pleasure of working with a variety of Team USA and international governing bodies throughout the last five years and understand the complexities these teams face when it comes to coordinating training and travel for players and staff that don’t compete according to a typical season,” said Teamworks President of International Mitch Heath.
“We are excited to bring these tools to the Matildas ahead of several of the world’s biggest international competitions so players and staff can spend less time planning and executing the operational details required for each trip and can instead focus on the mental and physical preparation required to compete on the world’s most elite stage.”
